Usually the mixed ones are in Hereford, on the third Saturday of the month. Numbers are usually 6 to 8, with one or two girls, several special girls and the rest boys. Miss Prim normally teaches all lessons.
Mostly there is a MAM trained maid to prepare and serve lunch and refreshments. If you wish to apply for this position, please contact Miss Prim.
Occasionally Matron will be present too. Sometimes lessons may be taken by other Schoolmistresses or Schoolmasters. If it matters to you whether they are present or not, then you can see from the Future Events page whether this is true for a particular event.
Ladies or gentlemen who may like to serve as Matron or Teacher should contact Miss Prim. You must be able to discipline all pupils, not just the girls! Muir experience helps.
There can be special day schools for male pupils with Schoolmaster(s), for those pupils who prefer it. Miss Prim will still be around, supervising the maid and advising the schoolmaster if needed. So far we have not had enough applicants for such courses when we have announced potential dates, but we hope one day to do such courses.
A boarding school for adults, real life as known by girls & boys at traditional British boarding schools. Nothing occurs that would be exceptional in well-run schools of that type a few decades ago.
Rules reflect best practise. Separate dormitories, boys may not even touch girls. (Even if married to each other!) Pupils go home refreshed & are usually eager to return.
All Muir Reform Academy events are run personally by Miss Prim as Headmistress, with help from Matron and perhaps other ladies.
The Muir College, though it is run along very similar lines to those so firmly set by Miss Prim for The Muir Academy, does not include her as Headmistress. There is a Headmaster, ably assisted by other gentlemen and sometimes Matron. The domestic duties are carried out by a cook or maid, who may be a special girl.
All pupils are always girls, not boys or special girls, for whom The Muir Academy
provides sufficient scope.
The gentlemen (or ladies) come as the tutors of a particular girl. Each will
have the opportunity of teaching classes, if they wish, by turns.
Numbers are three to ten girls. Courses are run on lines more similar to the ordinary Muir Academy terms than the Tutorial courses.
Tutors without a girl may be considered, but they will have to prove their competence by some means. Check with Miss Prim if interested. Some girls come alone when their tutor cannot attend. In such cases Miss Prim can put a would-be tutor in touch with such a girl, but this option is only open to those we know well.
There are more staff than at Muir Academy functions and some tutors or girls may have inhibitions about allowing all tutors free rein with all girls. To cover this point all pupils, (and sometimes the maid too), carry a Report Book. This carries any special conditions and specifies by whom the girl may be disciplined. It also serves as a record of any offences committed.
A tutor may demand to see a girls Report at any time. If empowered to deal with an offence he will. If not he may note the offence and be assured that the girls tutor will deal with it appropriately.
There is time set aside at the end of each days teaching for each tutor
to review their girls conduct and take any steps necessary.
Normally pupils will only be allowed on these courses after they have been on an ordinary boarding school course first, as the intensity of these courses can make it very difficult for anyone to maintain the pace.
Tutorial Courses
After running classes successfully for nearly ten years Miss Prim decided to
add classes in a new style, i.e. Tutorial groups. These are for experienced
students for whom it is felt a more structured, stricter régime was needed.
It is another, more rigorous boarding school for adults, real life at the kind
of British boarding schools to which people, particularly Army Officers, sent
their 'black sheep', with some aspects close to those of Borstals. The rules
are very much more detailed and formally defined. The following gives a flavour:
Initially they were either all-girl or all-boy, but now we have also run a
mixed tutorial where the introduction of both genders has not detracted from
the seriousness of the course. They are designed to be intensive and demanding
and are not therefore suitable for pupils who have not attended previous courses
at the ordinary level.
The uniform rules are precise and no exceptions are made. For these courses it is not acceptable to wear the uniform of a previous school, it has to conform to that laid down specifically for these courses. This uniform is also, of course, acceptable at ordinary courses. For boys the V-neck pullover and socks in Muir Colours must be purchased from The Academy Club. The cap, grey shirt and black blazer make up the rest of the boys uniform. Girls on all-girl courses must have a navy blue gymslip and navy cardigan or blazer. The Summer uniform is a navy candy-striped school dress. Girls attending a mixed course may wear a knee-length grey skirt and the same pullover and socks as the boys, with a matching grey shirt or blouses as the boys. All items are rigorously checked for name tags.
A full set of rules will be given on arrival with an hour given to learn them.
There are a sample set below, but the rules for a particular course may differ.
These are in addition to the normal rules detailed in this Prospectus and may
be varied at the discretion of the Headmistress. Punishments are awarded both
in the privacy of the Headmistress's study and in front of the class. Though
unlikely to be more frequent than on other courses, they are likely to be more
severe.
Academic work is also set at a higher level and all those who fail to achieve the set pass mark are dealt with promptly. No infantile behaviour will be tolerated. As with other courses there will normally be a Matron and other domestic staff. Supervision is constant and unremitting. All pupils will bring with them a letter from their tutor for both the Headmistress and the Matron, informing them of any relevant matters.
To be accepted on a tutorial and to have received a Certificate of Achievement is a great accomplishment, not gained by any but the most dedicated amongst our number.
Discipline
1. All four rules of corporal punishment will be adhered to at all times. A pupil should be able to recite them when asked.
2. There will be Parade, a uniform inspection at 8.20 am, before breakfast.
A bell signals parade pupils have 2 minutes to be in hall. Lateness will be
punished and each and any fault in uniform appearance gets a demerit. There
may be other inspections at any time.
3. For every 3 demerits you will receive 6 strokes with the cane.
4. There will be no last in the test. Each test will have a pass
mark set at the time. Anyone not reaching the pass mark will receive 6 with
the senior tawse. If you fail to reach the pass mark three times in a day, you
will be put on defaulters.
5. Failure to complete the pre-set work or homework in a serious or sensible
manner will result in at least 12 strokes of the cane. No excuses will be accepted.
6. Punishment is not a source of amusement. Pupils, other than the offender,
will be silent during a correction. Anyone who sniggers. passes remark. or makes
a sound during a correction. will be punished themselves. If a sound is heard
and the culprit is not immediately obvious to the Mistress, the offender will
be invited to own up, or the whole class will be punished.
7. A pupil sent to the Head will always receive 6 cane strokes before she deals
with the offence for which they were sent.
8. Any kind of fighting or bullying will result in a public birching, the minimum
number to be twelve strokes.
9. Bad language or swearing will ensure you are sent to Matron for her to wash
out your mouth with soap. A repeat offence will mean a caning while holding
the soap in your mouth.
10. Messy work, if not improved, will lead to your hands being tawsed, unless
you have a medical exemption from Matron or the Headmistress. In the latter
case the correction will be applied to the back of the legs.
11. One stroke will be given for every minute late. No excuse is acceptable.
The severity and implement used is to depend on the reason for lateness.
12. Fire Drill: Pupils will have instruction on what to do when the alarm is
raised, and there will be an unannounced 'practice' at some point in term. Any
pupil who does not observe the correct drill. or does not respond immediately,
will be punished.
Rules
1. At all times you will show full respect to the staff and any visiting adults.
2. Pupils will behave in a ladylike or gentlemanly manner, as appropriate,
at all times. This will include in the common room, where girls will deport
themselves and sit in a ladylike manner. Lounging or sprawling will not be tolerated.
The same goes for boys who will act like young gentlemen. The common room is
for relaxing, but not for being lax.
3. Inappropriate conversation; pupils will act as pupils and not speak of any
matter relating to their adult persona except in 'third person', i.e. 'my guardian'
etc. Boasting will be punished, as it is poor form to promote one's self, one's
family members, their possessions or status.
4. Pupils will stand before asking or answering a question in class.
5. Casual conversation between pupils in the common room, when a member of
staff is present, will NOT be allowed this term.
6. Meals will be eaten in silence, save for table manners, UNTIL permission
for conversation to begin is given, by the Headmistress.
7. Hands and nails will be inspected before each meal.
8. The school hymn will be sung before the evening meal, standing at table.
9. Full school uniform will be worn at all times, unless variations are permitted
for a specific reason, eg a social function.
10. No talking in prep., after lights out or in class, unless permission has
been given.
11. Prep. will be handed in by bedtime, completed or not. No written prep may
be done in the dorm or before breakfast. Reading may be permitted, before lights
out
12. If you wish permission to say something in class, or in the presence of
an adult, you will raise your hand to attract the teachers or adults
attention. If and when this request is acknowledged you will stand before speaking.
13. All pupils will stand immediately, as an adult enters the room and when
an adult stands to leave the table or room, etc. Pupils will not sit down in
the presence of adults until the adults have done so first.
14. There will be no food or other contraband in the dormitories. All tuck
will be handed in to Matron when you arrive.
15. No pupil may leave the classroom, etc. without permission.
16. No pupil may leave the school premises at any time without the specific
permission of the Headmistress.
17. No running in the corridors.
18. School hymn: any pupil not knowing the words, without a text, will be beaten
AND will write out the hymn three times, IN BLOCK CAPITALS, after dinner and
AFTER any prep work is completed. If they do not have time for the task they
must expect further punishment.
19. Bed time will be 10.30 pm for pupils. Lights out at 11 pm.
20. In the event of any difference of interpretation of the meaning or application of rules, the Headmistresss ruling is final.
All boys must wear full tutorial-style uniform; an event for the 'younger' Muir boys; with a school age of 8-10, and a regime and syllabus to suit. This first event is fully subscribed already; if interested in future such events Miss Prim will want to evaluate your suitability beforehand.
This is one of many possible variations on the usual Muir Academy theme, suggested by one of our regular pupils. We have done several, but not recently. Please contact Miss Prim if you are interested in reviving this variation on courses. Miss Prim is always on the lookout for new ideas, so If you've anything to suggest, please contact her.
Miss Prim can train maids on a 1:1 basis. However this is a day organised on a more formal basis, with structured training events. Over one busy Saturday trainee maids each receive individual attention to develop their talents, & work together as well.
All domestic skills are taught, plus personal skills; deportment, make-up for maids, etc. An hour elsewhere can cost more than a day with Miss Prim!
The day begins at 10 am. The morning is devoted to teaching new skills, whether to beginners or the more experienced.
After lunch it becomes a practical exercise as they prepare all the food for a Dinner Party in the evening. They then lay a full table and serve each and every course to several couples, including Miss Prim and Sir Guy.
After clearing away, they eat their portions of the same meal, then report to Miss Prim, to be taken to task for any fault during the day, in front of the guests, and are given their certificates.
Basic accommodation for the Saturday evening is included in the fee, as the event may not finish until the early hours of Sunday.
This follows on from the successful Maid Training Days. There will be the same intensive training on the Saturday, with the practical preparation for, and serving of, a dinner party to guests on the Saturday evening.
Sunday, there'll be gentler arts; eg make-up, flower arranging, sewing. Sunday evening there'll be a formal meal in the 'Servant's Hall'.
If any of our Members or their wives (or indeed their husbands, or other friends) have expertise in make up, eg for ladies, the stage, or TVs, then Miss Prim would like to hear from them, so every maid benefits from a practical make-up lesson.
Or indeed if you'd like to be a guest at the dinner party. (There'll be Saturday-only Maid Training Days; we've not decided dates yet.)
Country House Weekend Fri 6-Mon 9th Sep at an idyllic Victorian house overlooking the Wye; full training and service for 3-4 maids serving two formal dinners and other meals for six guests. We expect this will be a much-sought-after opportunity to live the full 'In Service' life, so apply as soon as possible!
Guests are also invited to apply; we are looking for three couples and/or a mix of singles. Local walks, sightseeing, a castle, a maze, boat trips are close at hand for our guests to explore between enjoying the pampering of a very opulent weekend. Guests will be expected to wear formal attire for dinner and dress appropriately at all times!
We do several school-scene and fancy-dress parties and barbecues during the year, which are free, but only open to interviewed Members and one guest per Member.
Contact Miss Prim beforehand, she needs to know numbers for fod and overnight accommodation, etc.
Usually the barbecues are held after the Day Schools in July and August. The Christmas party is fancy dress, held after the December Day School. The New Year party is school-theme, after the January Day School.
You can expect free-style Muir fun and games on these evenings, but participation is wholly optional.
Please bring a bottle or several, (especially the single male guests), and your favourite implement(s)!
In Ishmael Skyes' phrase, "The best thing for misbehaviour is a school cane applied very hard to the bare bottom. If that doesn't cause misbehaviour, nothing will."
So we are teaming up to bring you a school disco with real discipline!
Miss Prim and many other Schoolmistresses, Scholmasters, Head Girls and Head Boys to supervise
It will be a wonderful place to observe and experience our style!
They will all properly equipped with cane or strap to discipline any erring boy or girl!
There will be classes, workshops, PE and games, Prep to do, wonderful food.
Ladies (including those not necessarily born that way) you always go to a great deal of trouble to look your absolute best at these occasions.
We trust that this state of affairs will continue, whether school uniform, academic gown, nit-nurse uniform, caretaker's gown, dinner-lady overalls, or any other outfit redolent of schooldays.
Gentlemen; If you do not know how to dress to your best advantage at a sexy SM party, you should not attend one.
It is simply discourtesy to others and you will not be granted what you came for.
It will be at Chats Palace, 42- 44 Brooksbys Walk, Hackney, London, E9
Tickets £15 from us, or elsewhere, £20 on the door.
It will probably begin at 5pm and close at 11.30pm. We shall close the doors at 10pm.
Day School £100, Maid Training Day, £125, Couples Weekend £150 per couple, Maid Weekend £250, Muir Academy £395 a term (Mon-Fri). Parties, parties, barbecues free to Interviewed Members, but bring a bottle, please.
A great chance for novice ponies to begin, as well as for experienced ponies to get back in harness!
There will be a medieval tournament, doing fun things with wooden swords, lances, balloons, etc. actually a stiff test of driver guidance and control and pony flexibility and stamina.
De Ferre ran a very successful event like it last year last year and Sir Guy ran a similar one at Petweek in August last year.
There will be some kind of hunt; probably with lightly clad "quarry" being chased by hunters armed with stock-marking crayons to follow in the afternoon as a highlight of the day, but the emphasis is on ponyplay in a friendly social context.
There will be 12-20 people and ponies, the cost is an incredibly reasonable £30 each, with a light meal.
You can use our harness and sulkies (carts), but we strongly recommend ponies get a bridle, etc. in advance, ideally even a harness. Ensuring a good fit by having your own kit, does a lot to make the play even more fun!
All sorts of pony girls and pony boys are welcome, including TV ponies! Single ponies may have to share a driver with others.
You must book and pay in advance, by phone or post through the TOPC office.
The only essentials are a stout pair of boots and a posing pouch for the colts.
Pony training in the morning and between times. This time the highlight of the day will be 'The Big Race'.
There'll be other races to establish form; but for the big one we hope some of the spectators dress up à la Ladies Day at Ascot. (Perhaps not all the ladies in their finery will have been born that way!) The winner, and perhaps loser, will 'star' at the party on-site in the evening.
To be advised.
Now in its fifth year, a full week of pansexual pony and other pet play at a BDSM camp in Denmark.
